What are the legal consequences of a party's default in responding or their abstention from presenting their defense in a lawsuit?

A party's failure to respond and their abstention from providing a clear and relevant answer to the lawsuit, despite the repeated request of the circuit, is considered a default in answering without an acceptable excuse.
